Who is Shinzo Abe, who was shot dead while giving a speech in Japan?
Since morning, ShinzoAbe has been all over the internet. Now the question comes to mind is, who is Shinzo Abe?
Shinzo Abe was the former prime minister of Japan and President of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) between 2012 and 2020, and before that, from 2006 to 2007. He was the longest-serving prime minister in Japanese history. He's known for his strong foreign policy provided an effective counter to China, supported Taiwan, and sought to build broad coalitions to combat growing Chinese influence.
The former prime minister announced his resignation in August 2020, citing health concerns. He later disclosed he was being treated for ulcerative colitis, a chronic intestinal illness.
This morning, Japan's former prime minister Shinzo Abe died after being shot while campaigning for a parliamentary election in the Nara region. A man opened fire on Abe from behind with an apparently homemade gun as he spoke at a drab traffic island in the western city of Nara.

As seen in the leaked videos, it's visible that the first bullet missed him, and the second hit him near the neck as he turned to notice the loud noise which led to a hole in the heart. Shinzo Abe was also a steady friend of India who was honored with Padma Vibhushan last year for public service. PM Modi tweeted "As a mark of our deepest respect for former Prime Minister Abe Shinzo, one-day national mourning shall be observed on 9 July 2022."
Our condolences to his family members & the people of Japan.
