How under display camera works : Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G
Nowadays many companies like Xiaomi, Oppo, and Samsung are developing high-tech under screen smartphone cameras. Recently Samsung launched Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G phone with this high-tech camera, which doesn't require a notch or hole to function.
There are two types of displays that are majorly adopted across all smartphones. One of them is In-Plane Switching Displays (IPS) OR Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD) and another one is Active Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode displays (AMOLED).
Fold 3 comes with an AMOLED Infinity Flex Display that has a 4MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and an 80 degrees range of view. Nothing special so far, but the sensor does have quite large 2-micron pixels, which indicates they can catch more light, something required when the sensor is hidden behind a phone's display.
The technology utilizes minimum pixels on top of the camera hole that allows an improved viewable area to the device users. Also, Samsung is using Eco display technology to help deliver a 29% brighter screen while utilizing less energy.
There are some drawbacks of UDC too, for example, the camera's hole is fully visible when the image is dark or when the phone is in sleep mode. The visibility of UDC also depends upon the factors like viewing angles and the screen's brightness levels. Another drawback is that the photos taken by the under-display camera are below expectations or not up to the mark.
